I keep meaning to mention Project Love on the Parrots’ Workshop.
This is a fundraising drive for three amazing rescues, one of which is the Island Parrot Sanctuary (TIPS) – where our umbrella cockatoo, Bobo, now happily resides. He is doing incredibly well, and has been described as a completely different bird! TIPS gives 80+ parrots the chance to restart their lives in peace and comfort. The Sanctuary is where birds of all backgrounds go to heal.
Toys, as we know, are an essential part of keeping any parrot healthy and mentally occupied, but they can also be expensive – particularly with larger birds, who go through them so fast! Project Love seeks to get toys and supplies to three rescues around the world. Donations to these can be handmade, or purchased and sent via post. Other donations are welcome, too.
Check out the Parrot’s Workshop for some inspiration to get you started.
Coming out of the holidays like this, January can be a difficult time for all of us, but if you have a little to spare, Scarlett’s Parrot Essentials UK is offering free shipping to TIPS. The Sanctuary is undergoing a difficult winter right now, and could really use donations. (You don’t have to be in the UK, either!)
If you choose to purchase toys from Scarlett’s, just remember to mention that you are sending to the Sanctuary for the event. Or you can visit YouCaring and donate directly.
And if you would prefer to donate a little closer to home, there is a Stateside Project Love option, Feathered Friends of Michigan, as well as Greyhaven Exotic Bird Sanctuary in Canada. All are very deserving of your help.
Finally, there is a raffle going on for those who post their boxes by February 14th, too. Each item donated earns you one ticket.
